MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team defeated the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College 65-59 on Friday. This win takes the Trojans to 4-0 overall and 3-0 in Conference.

INSIDE THE SCORE

The opening quarter stalled offensively as the Crusaders were the first on the scoreboard 2-0 with 8:12 left in the 1st quarter. The UMO offense went on a 4-0 run to earn a three-point lead 5-2 with 6:421 left in the first. The Trojans headed into quarter number two with a four-point lead 13-9.

The Trojan offense did not stop there as they came into the second quarter with authority and increased their lead by six, 27-21. Belmont Abbey could not come within four of the Trojans for the remainder of the second quarter, as Mount Olive headed into halftime with a four-point lead 27-23.

In the beginning of the third quarter, the Trojans took the first two points and held the lead until the end of the frame. The Crusaders tied up the contest at 38 to end quarter number three.

Mount Olive tied the contest at 47 with 6:15 remaining. After five lead changes Mount Olive took a six-point victory over the Crusaders 65-59.

MOUNT OLIVE LEADERS

Ivanda Hudjakova led the Trojans with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Sherry Johnson took home 10 rebounds.

CRUSADERS LEADERS

The Crusaders were led by Jo Snow with 17 points.
