YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The University of Mount Olive women's basketball team battled through four quarters Monday afternoon but came up short in a 71–40 road loss at Young Harris College.
Mount Olive opened the game with strong defensive energy and stayed competitive early, trailing just 12–10 after the first quarter. The Trojans generated quality looks offensively and worked the glass to keep the game within reach during the opening stretch.

Savannah McAfee paced Mount Olive with a team-high 11 points while adding seven rebounds, and Jerin Truesdale recorded a solid all-around effort with nine points and nine rebounds. Kayla Jackson contributed eight points, and Jayla Hicks finished with seven points and four assists as the Trojans continued to move the ball and attack offensively.

Despite continued effort, Mount Olive faced a tough third quarter that shifted momentum. The Trojans responded with their best offensive output of the second half in the fourth quarter, scoring 14 points and knocking down timely shots, but were unable to close the gap.

The Trojans' next contest is against Ferrum on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
