Box Score BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Trojans continued their dominant roll through conference play. Defeating the Bobcats on the road Wednesday evening, 19-1.
GAME INFORMATION
The Trojans offense came out on fire.
Shaelyn Yermal scored less than a minute into the game, putting the Trojans up, 1-0. A minute later
Kelly Young struck for the Trojans, increasing their lead to 2-0. The Bobcats held off the Trojans for two minutes until
Meaghan Michaud joined the party, firing one past the goaltender, making the score 3-0, Trojans. In an eleven minute span the Trojans scored seven more times, extending their lead to 10-0 with fifteen minutes left in the first half.Â
Each team briefly locked in on defense with both teams causing three turnovers in a six minute span. The Trojans offense broke out of the lull in scoring by finding the back of the net again, this time off the stick of
Jackie Kaderabek, her first of the game, putting the Trojans up 11-0. Shortly after the goal the Trojans swapped goalies, sending
Falon Costigan into the game with eight minutes left in the first half. The Trojans remained locked in on defense, not allowing a shot on goal before adding to their lead with just over two minutes left till half. Young, scoring her third of the game, sending the Trojans into halftime with a 12-0 lead.
The second half began with the Trojans launching two quick shots on goal, both turned away by the goaltender. Costigan faced her first shot of the game, saving a free position shot, keeping the Bobcats off the board. The Trojans were rewarded a free position shot of their own a minute later, with Yermal cashing in, extending the Trojans lead to 13-0. Six minutes later
Denae Haeussler scored, bringing the score to 14-0.Â
With four minutes left in the half, Haeussler scored her second goal of the day, increasing the Trojans lead to 19-0. The Bobcats added a goal late, but fell to the Trojans, 19-1.
KEY MOMENT
The key moment came in the first half. With the Trojans up by three, they scored an unanswered seven goals in an eleven minute span to increase their lead to 10-0.Â
