YOUNG HARRIS, GA (April 23) - After taking the number two seed in the conference to bypass the play in game, the University of Mount Olive Trojans take the loss against number three seed Belmont Abby losing 14-8.
After a long-fought year of lacrosse action, UMO Finished the 2026 season 11-5 and 7-2 While Belmont Abbey advances to the finals to play the number one seed Young Harris.
Six women's lacrosse players scored in the game, including senior
Maddy Fratus who scored two goals and grabbed one ground ball. Freshman
Jordan Bolam also scored two goals with one ground ball and one a single draw control. Sophomore
Morghan Pollock, Senior
Alexa Fitzgerald, red-shirt freshman Karson Elliott, and senior
Katie Broom all scored one goal in the game. Only one Trojan had an assist today and that was freshman.
Libby Berg, who also won two, draw controls and collected a ground ball.
On defense, Senior
Giavahna Gasdia Caused two turnovers, one two draw controls and captured one ground ball while junior
Simone McCraw caused one turnover won one draw control, and collected one ground ball. Sophomore Tori cook and Junior
Jocelyn Doerr both caused a turnover while Doerr collected a ground ball.
Goalkeeper Junior
Ruby Burandt had nine saves on 14 goals against with a safe percentage of .391 to end her 2026 season.
In the first two quarters the Trojans were only down three goals. The Crusaders of Belmont Abbey started the game off with two goals back-to-back in the span of 36 seconds. this however, did not last long once Pollock scored the first goal for the Trojans, which later led two more goals for UMO to steal the lead in the first quarter. In the second quarter Belmont Abby showed up with fire where they scored five goals on the Trojans taking the lead 7 to 4 with a goal by Fitzgerald at the 3:51 mark.
In the second half of the game, the Trojans were only able to get four goals unable to recover the loss when in the third quarter the Crusaders scored seven goals. In the fourth quarter the Mount Olive defense showed out with resilience by not letting a single goal. Get past them to leave the fourth quarter scoreless for Belmont.
The Trojans complete their 2026 lacrosse season But have still left a mark by claiming the defensive player of the year and five all conference athletes that were honored with first, second, and third team.
