AHOSKIE -  The University of Mount Olive men's golf team garnered their best team finish of the season at the Hampton Farms Intercollegiate hosted by Chowan University.

The Trojans finished second out of eleven teams competing with a 30-over par performance. They trailed only Barton who were at 24-over, with Fayetteville State (+30), Chowan (+34), and Indiana University East (+49).

Mount Olive's incredible execution in Round two was the catalyst for the team's high placement. UMO finished two over par for the lowest combined round through the field, led by Matthew Richardson's 2-under joined by Shawn Benson's and Jonas Arnstrom Bakker's even rounds.

Mount Olive saw four golfers finish inside the top-20, with Bakker leading the way finishing tied for third at +5, followed by Benson in 11th (+9), Richardson tied for 12th (+10), Lonnqvist tied for 21st (+13), and Lavrans Holm tied for 27th (+15).

The Trojans are set to head to Snow Hill April 19-21, for the 2026 Conference Carolinas Men's Golf Championship played at Cutter Creek Golf Club.
