OKATIE, S.C. – The University of Mount Olive men's golf team competed in the Oldfield Classic, hosted by USC Beaufort, finishing tied for 13th overall out of 16 teams at the three-round tournament in Okatie.
The event featured 6 teams ranked inside the national top 40 entering the tournament. Wingate came in ranked sixth, Georgia Southwestern eighth, Catawba ninth, Columbus State 12th, Lander 27th, and hosts USC Beaufort 40th.
Georgia Southwestern claimed the team title at 5-over par, followed by Catawba at +7, Wingate at +8, Columbus State finishing fourth at +19, and rounding off the top 5 was Drexel who came in at +26.
Oscar Lonnqvist and Matthew Richardson paved the way for the Trojans finishing tied for 45th at +15, followed by Shawn Benson tied for 50th at +16, and Jonas Baker who tied for 73rd at +23.
The Trojans return to action at the Trojan Open, hosted by University of Mount Olive, on March 30-31 in Goldsboro.
