Mount Olive Finishes Fourth at the Trojan Led by Benson

GOLDSBORO — The University of Mount Olive men's golf team hosted the Trojan this past weekend at Walnut Creek Country Club, finishing fourth in a 13-team field.

The Trojans placed inside the top five with a 23-over performance. Lenoir-Rhyne, ranked No. 46 nationally, claimed the team title at 1-under, followed by Barton at 4-over and Belmont Abbey at 20-over. Belmont Abbey B rounded out the top five.

Shawn Benson led the way for Mount Olive with a ninth-place finish at 2-over. Oscar Lonnqvist followed in 11th at 5-over, while Matthew Richardson and Jonas Arnstrom Baker each finished tied for 16th at 8-over. Lavrans Holm rounded out the lineup with a tie for 65th at 28-over.

Mount Olive returns to action at the Hampton Farms Intercollegiate in Murfreesboro, hosted by Chowan University, on April 6-7 to close out the regular season.
