GREENVILLE, S.C. (April 14) - Women's Track and Field Athletes
Serenity Harvey and
Jasmine Colwell are named Track and Field Athletes of the by the conference of Tuesday morning. This is the second time for both athletes to be named Athlete of the Week this season.
Colwell, a sophomore from Leland, N.C., competed in the Trojan Relays, where she placed second in the shot put and won the discus. She then achieved an NCAA provisional distance of 45.89 meters in the discus, shattering both the school and conference records. In the shot put, she also recorded a throw of 13.15 meters.
Harvey, a freshman from Whiteville, N.C., where she hit a NCAA provisional time in the 200-meter dash set a school record. She won the event by covering the distance in 23.44 seconds at the Trojan Relays this past weekend.Â
Colwell is now ranked first in the conference and second in the region for the discus throw and second in the conference and fourth in the region for shot put. Harvey still claims first in the conference and region for the 200m and is eighth in the nation.Â
Both athletes will be competing in the the Aggie Invite Friday April, 17 before they head off to conference Championships next week April 23-25.
