MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. (April 11) - Mount Olive women's track & field team showed out with two records broken for the school and one broken conference record. Sophomore Jasmine Colwell broke a school and conference record in the discus throw while teammate freshman Serenity Harvey broke a school in the 200m dash.

Colwell competed in the shot put where she threw a second place mark of 13.15 meters but showed her strength in the discus throw where she threw a record breaking 45.89 meter throw which now ranks her first in the conference for discus, second in the region, and 38th in the nation which also hit the provisional mark. 

Harvey took first place in the 200m dash with a time of 23.44 seconds which breaks the previous school record that she had set just two weeks prior. This accomplishment hit a provisional mark to bring her eighth in the nation, and first in the region as well as conference. 

In the 100m dash, Futoria Harris hit Provo mark in the prelims to place first with a time of 11.69 seconds. Lakeiya Sanders also took fourth with a prelim time of 12.15 seconds. 

In the 200m, Heaven Roberts hit a Provo mark of 23.98 taking the third place spot and Harris claimed fourth with a time of 24.57 seconds.

Essence Slate competed in the 400m dash where she captured first with a speed of 55.70 seconds to complete her day of competition. 

Three athletes competed in the 800m, Danielle Johnston took second with a time of 2:25.07, Linn Lindevik followed right behind with to claim the third place spot with a time of 2:25.95, and Ruby Cofone placed fifth with a finishing time of 2:27.00.

In the 1500m, Lindevik placed second with a time of 4:59.66 and Peyton Roebuck took the fifth place spot with a time of 5:29.54.

Haniyyah Johnson competed on the track and field, taking first place in every event. in the 100m hurdles she hit a Provo mark with a time of 13.89 seconds, leaped 5.74 meters in the long jump and finished off her day with the first place mark of 13.19 meters.

Zaria Washington competed in the 100 and 400 meter hurdles where she took second in both events and hit a Provo mark in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.08 seconds. In the 400m hurdles she finished in 65.66 seconds.

In the sand, Janara Bryant hit a Provo mark and claimed first in the triple jump with a leap of 12.39 meters. 

High jumper, Sara Lydsdottir placed first with a leap of 1.57 meters, Macie Inman followed in suit to take second also with a jump of 1.57 meters. Bryant leaped a fifth place height of 1.52 to complete her day. 

Audrey Nelson, Trinity Frayer, and Maia Edmisten all competed in pole vault taking the first, second, and third spot. Nelson claimed the first place spot with a vault of 3.05 meters, Frayer followed in second with a vault of 2.75 meters and to complete the podium Edmisten had a vault of 2.00 meters. 

In the javelin, Mackenna Gallon placed third with a throw of 35.71 meters and Lydsdottir placed fourth with a throw of 30.83 meters. 

Throwers, Cynthia Thomas placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 37.43 meters and Isabelle Grene placed fifth in the hammer with throw of 49.54 meters to complete the day. 

The Trojans will be returning to competition April 17, where they will be going to the Aggie Invitational.
