Mount Olive – Mount Olive has posted some notable first place wins in the first day of the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday afternoon.
Newcomer Sara Lydsdottir, a pentathlon runner, won the women's race and met a meet record with 3448 points.
Cynthia Thomas won her event of the women's weight throw with a mark of 16.28 meters and
Isabelle Grena posted a third-place mark with a throw of 15.81 meters.
Antoine King also won his event and posted a meet record mark in men's weight throw of 18.63 meters. Matt Heywood posted a third-place mark with a throw of 16.73 meters.
Haniyyah Johnson won the women's long jump with a meet and conference record of 6.09 meters as well as setting a conference and meet record in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.60 seconds.
Janara Bryant posted a second-place mark with a leap of 5.87 meters.
For women's pole vault
Audrey Nelson achieved second-place with 3.22 meters.
Essence Slate followed in suit posting a meet record in the women's 400 meters with a time of 55.88 seconds.
Serenity Harvey and
Heavan Roberts both ran under the previous women's 200 meters meet and conference records times with Harvery finishing with a time of 23.98 seconds and Roberts with a time of 24.21 seconds.
