MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Mount Olive men's and women's track and field team competed at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invite hitting Provo and Qualifying marks, breaking school records, still hitting 1
st and 2
nd place marks.
On the track, Leland smith had a prelim sprint of 10.60 in the 100m dash, placing 6
th in finals with a time of 10.68. Smith also competed in the 200m taking 8
th with a time of 21.46. Zach Broadus hit a Qualifying mark in the 400m with a time of 49.01. Mid Distance runner Artem Meltsaeiv had a time of 1:54.59 in the 800m dash placing 8
th.
The men field athletes were able to achieve many 3
rd place ranks while Antoine king a Discus thrower threw a 2
nd place distance of 50.67.
Chris Harris also threw the Discus placing 7
th with a throw of 44.88 meters.
Micah Harrison threw a third place, Provo mark in the Hammer with a throw of 57.73 meters.
Matthew Heywood and
Jaylin Durbin were right behind him with a with a throws of 54.04m and 52.55m. In shot put,
Sigursteinn Asgeirsson threw a 16.43-meter 3
rd place distance. Jumper
Kobe Jones jumped a 3rd place distance of 7.06 meters in the long jump while Javar Core placed 8
th in the triple jump with a distance of 14.75 meters.
The women's team hit multiple Qualifying marks and broke four school records across the track and field.
First on the track,
Heavan Roberts competed in three events, the 100m, 200m, and 400m. In the 100m she had a time of 12.00 Q, in the 200m she placed 6
th with a qualifying time of 24.25, and in the 400m she placed 3
rd with a time of 56.02.
Lakeiya Sanders also competed in the 100m with a qualifying time of 12.20.
Essence Slate ran the 200m and 400m taking 7
th in the 200m with a qualifying time of 24.38 then hitting a Provo mark, broke a school record, and placed 2
nd in the 400m with a time of 55.19. Mid Distance runner
Danielle Johnston ran the mile in 5:27 while Alexandria White placed 5
th in the 300m steeplechase with a time of 12:24.10.
In the field,
Isabelle Grena placed 5
th in the hammer throw with a distance of 47.19 meters,
Jasmine Colwell following with a 6
th place throw of 46.58 meters. Colwell also competed in shot put throwing a 5
th place mark of 12.57 meters. Pole Vaulter
Audrey Nelson broke a school record and placed third with a vault of 3.20 meters.
Janara Bryant a triple jumper placed first and hit a Provo mark of 13.11 meters.
Sara Lydsdottir completed the Heptathlon with 4155 points which broke a school record.
In the 4x800 White,
Peyton Roebuck, Johnston, and
Linn Andrea Lindevik broke a school record with a time of 10:06.08.
The Trojans next meet will be at the at home 9
th Annual Adidas Trojan Challenge meet on Saturday Mar 28.
