Nutter named Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year

NEW ORLEANS (June 9) – Following his performance during the outdoor season, University of Mount Olive graduate student Dominic Nutter was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Region Field Athlete of the Year.

Nutter capped a decorated intercollegiate track & field career with a fifth All-American selection after placing seventh overall in the hammer throw at the NCAA Division II National Championships. He garnered USTFCCCA all-region honors in the event after boasting the sixth-best mark in the country and top distance in the Southeast Region. Nutter set the Conference Carolinas and Mount Olive record in the hammer throw with a toss of 64.07 meters in the final week of the regular season. On the national stage, he earned First-Team All-American honors for the third time in the hammer throw after setting a mark of 61.28 meters while competing in Colorado.

At the Conference Carolinas Championship, Nutter captured 14 points toward the teaming standings for the Trojans. He secured the Conference Carolinas crown in the hammer throw before placing fifth in the weight throw. Nutter helped the Trojans earn an 11th straight Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
