Alan Usher and graduate student short-stick defensive midfielder
Zachary Taylor garnered All-American honors from USA Lacrosse on Friday.
The Trojans led the Conference Carolinas with two selections, as Usher and Zachary received honorable mention honors from the organization. Mount Olive was one of 35 institutions represented on the 2025 list, which was selected by staff and contributors to USA Lacrosse.
A native of Crofton, Maryland, Usher earns All-American status for a consecutive year after becoming just the second-ever, two-time Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year in league history. He entered the season as a preseason All-American by USA Lacrosse and was named to the 2025 All-Conference Carolinas First-Team. Usher led a Trojan defense that finished first in the Conference Carolinas in man-down defense (.741) and ground balls per game (35.71). Additionally, UMO ranked second in the league with a 9.64 scoring defense while sitting third in caused turnovers per game (9.86). This season, Usher tallied 19 caused turnovers while forcing at least three in four contests. He added 22 ground balls while starting all 14 games.
Taylor collects All-American honors for the first time in his career after being named to the All-Conference Carolinas First-Team for a consecutive year. Additionally, he was voted to the All-Tournament Team after the Trojans advanced to the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Championship. Taylor delivered an efficient season in the defensive midfield with 12 caused turnovers and 23 ground balls in 14 games while adding two goals and an assist.
