SALISBURY, N.C. (May 16) – University of Mount Olive junior shortstop
Lane McLean was voted to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-Southeast Region Second-Team on Friday afternoon.
McLean garners All-Region honors for the first time in his career after being recognized on the All-Conference Carolinas First-Team and All-Defensive Team. He was featured as the leadoff hitter for the Trojans for a majority of the season while boasting a .321 batting average behind a team-leading 69 hits. McLean ranked eighth in NCAA Division II with 22 doubles while sitting fifth in the Conference Carolinas as the toughest player to strike out. He tied for the team lead with 20 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI performances while posting a 24-game reached base streak this season. Additionally, in 51 starts, McLean finished with five homers, 44 RBI, 43 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases.
Defensively, he produced another elite season at shortstop with a team-best 151 assists and contributed to 30 double plays for Mount Olive.
