GASTONIA, N.C. (May 2) – After falling into an early deficit and battling a lengthy rain delay, the No. 7 seeded Trojans dropped a 7-3 decision to No. 6 Barton on Friday afternoon in an elimination game in the Conference Carolinas Championship at Sims Legion Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Despite getting the lead-off batter on base in the initial three innings of the contest, the Trojans were held scoreless and stranded three runners on base, including a pair in scoring position.
- Meanwhile, the Bulldogs built a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with a two-out RBI single up the middle before adding a pair of runs in the second frame, 3-0. In the bottom of the third, Barton climbed the lead to 4-0 with another RBI single before the contest entered an hour rain delay in the top of the fourth inning.
- Mount Olive rallied in the top of the fourth, as junior Tariq Talley laced a two-out RBI single to left field before redshirt junior Anthony Mitta hit a two-run double down the right-field line, 4-3.
- Barton registered an additional run in the fifth with a solo homer to center field before tallying a pair of insurance runs in the seventh to secure the win, 7-3.

- Freshman John Nelson McLamb suffered the loss (1-1) after surrendering three earned runs on two hits with one strikeout and three walks in 1.2 innings pitched (38 pitches).
- Redshirt junior Lane Roberson tossed 1.0 inning in relief and allowed one earned run on three hits, while freshman Pete Honse surrendered three earned runs on three hits with three strikeouts and three walks in 3.0 innings pitched.
- Senior Aiken Minton delivered 2.0 scoreless innings of relief with one strikeout to close out the game.
