MOUNT OLIVE (May 9) – Freshman
Futoria Harris broke the Conference Carolinas record in the 100 meters, as the University of Mount Olive women's track & field team competed at the UMO First Chance and Final Qualifier at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
Harris delivered a first-place finish in the 100-meter dash after crossing the line in 11.46 seconds, which established a new conference and school record. Her mark moves into a tie for 14th in NCAA Division II.
Senior
Karla Hormazabal produced the seventh-best mark in NCAA Division II and placed first overall with a leap of 12.55 meters.
In the hammer throw, sophomore
Elin Rydqvist finished second and hit an NCAA Standard with a distance of 55.01 meters, while junior
Kenisha Barnes placed third with a toss of 54.36 meters.
