Trojans Dominate Season Opener with Surge of Records and NCAA Marks

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – (Dec. 5) The Trojans delivered a dominant all-around performance with a surge of conference records, NCAA provisional marks, school records, and top-10 all-time results across both the track and field events. The meet featured standout showings from Futoria Harris and Zion Richardson-Keys, along with Hanniyah Johnson and Antoine King to start off the first meet of the season.

WOMEN
Futoria Harris, produced one of the top sprint performances in program history. Harris won the 60m in 7.45, hitting the NCAA provisional standard and the conference qualifying mark, before adding a third-place finish in the 200m at 24.55, also earning PROVO and Q marks in the event.
Heavan Roberts continued her strong season with a third-place finish in the 60m at 7.69 (Q) and a stellar runner-up finish in the 200m with a 24.52, achieving another NCAA provisional mark and conference qualifier.
Hanniyah Johnson delivered a historic triple-event performance. Johnson won the long jump with a massive 6.23m, setting both a school and conference record, while earning another PROVO and Q mark. She added another school/conference record in the 60m hurdles with an 8.53 (PROVO, Q) and placed third in the shot put at 11.51m (Q).
Zaria Washington hit a conference qualifying mark in the 60m hurdles with a 9.27.
Serenity Harvey delivered two top-tier performances, winning the 200m in 24.31 (PROVO, Q, 3rd all-time) and the 400m in 57.72 (Q, 4th all-time).
Essence Slate added a trio of qualifiers, running 25.54 in the 200m (Q, 9th all-time), 58.31 in the 400m (Q, 8th all-time), and leaping 5.31m in the long jump (Q).
Macie Inman also qualified in the 400m with a 59.82.
In the jumps, Keza Green placed third in the long jump with a 5.38m leap (Q), while Serenity Johnson reached 11.14m in the triple jump (Q, 8th all-time).
In the pole vault, Trinity Frayer cleared 3.00m for the win (Q), followed by Audrey Nelson in second at 2.80m (Q, 3rd all-time).
Throws standout Jasmine Colwell won the shot put at 11.54m (Q) and placed third in the weight throw at 13.41m (Q). Cynthia Thomas (10.90m, Q) and Kailah Taylor (10.65m) rounded out strong results.
In the weight throw, Isabelle Grena placed second with a 15.33m toss (Q), while Savannah Odom threw 12.64m for fourth.
 
MEN
In the sprints, Jamavie Glover reached a conference qualifier with a 6.93 in the 60m prelims, finishing third overall. Jacoby Pevia also qualified in the 60m with a 6.98 in prelims before finishing third in the 200m in 21.88 (Q, 5th all-time).
Zion Richardson-Keys had a standout meet, winning the 60m hurdles in 8.28 (Q, tied 4th all-time), claiming first in the 200m at 21.74 (Q, 4th all-time), and securing a long jump Q mark with a 6.80m performance.
Jason Hart added another sprint qualifier with a 21.88 in the 200m for fifth place.
In the 400m, Henry Bullock won with a 48.67 (Q, 4th all-time), followed by Travelius Leach in second with a 49.79 (Q).
In the high jump, Kavon Poindexter finished second after clearing 1.89m (Q).
In the horizontal jumps, Javariante Core placed second in the triple jump at 14.03m (Q) and reached 6.72m in the long jump (Q). Andrew Pender added Q marks in both the long jump (6.59m) and triple jump (13.62m, 4th place), while Brendin Marks qualified at 6.58m in the long jump. Princeton Loch also secured a Q in the triple jump (13.28m).
In the throws, Stony won the shot put with a 15.83m toss (Q).
Antoine King delivered exceptional all-around results, placing second in the shot put at 14.24m (Q, 9th all-time), before winning the weight throw at 17.63m (Q, 3rd all-time).
Adam Turner added two more qualifiers after placing third in the shot put (13.68m) and second in the weight throw (16.89m, 8th all-time).
JJ Durbin hit Q marks in both the shot put (13.22m) and the weight throw (15.08m, 10th all-time).
In the weight throw, Chris Harris (16.59m, 3rd place, Q) and Matt Heywood (16.29m, 4th place, Q) added depth to the Trojans' strong results.
This marks the first meet of the 2025-26 season with the next competition being Sunday where the Trojans will be at the JDL Early Bird Invite.
