Logan Hibbard and senior
Rileigh White combined for nine goals and two assists on Tuesday night, as the Trojans extended their winning streak with an 18-10 win at Barton in Conference Carolinas play.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse program collects a fifth-straight win to improve to 6-6 this season behind a 5-1 mark in conference action. The Trojans remain undefeated with an 11-0 record in the all-time series with the Bulldogs while scoring at least 13 goals in every matchup. Meanwhile, Barton drops to 8-5 overall with a 5-1 mark in league play.
Hibbard registered a six-point performance with five goals and one assist while adding eight draw controls, two caused turnovers, and three ground balls. White totaled four goals, one assist, one caused turnover, and two ground balls. Sophomores
Katie Broom and
Caroline Clark recorded three-point games with two goals and one assist.
Mount Olive scored four unanswered goals in the initial four-plus minutes of the first quarter, as sophomore
Kayanna Bowden rattled the back of the cage for the opening goal. The Trojans added a trio of free-position goals with a pair by Hibbard and one from junior
Maddy Fratus, 4-0. The sides traded goals for the remainder of the quarter, with White netting a hat-trick in under seven minutes, 7-4. The Bulldogs closed the gap to 7-6 early in the second before UMO scored four-straight goals. Senior
Lena DeFilippo scored at the 11:22 mark before Hibbard completed her first-half hat-trick, 9-6. With under four minutes to go in the half, Bowden registered a free-position goal while Broom added another goal to take an 11-6 lead at the break.
The Trojans quickly held a seven-goal lead in the third behind goals from Broom and Hibbard before Barton trimmed the deficit by scoring four of the next five goals, 14-10. Clark scored her second goal of the third quarter with 22 seconds left to head into the fourth ahead by a 15-10 margin. UMO scored three more goals in the final quarter, with White, freshman
Morghan Pollock, and Hibbard recording a goal to capture an 18-10 victory.
Freshman goalkeeper
Lily Mahoney earned the win after recording 10 saves on 20 shots faced while playing 44-plus minutes. Defensively, Hibbard and DeFilippo led the team with two caused turnovers and three ground balls.
The Trojans outshot the Bulldogs by a 36-25 margin while going 21-of-27 on clearances.
Mount Olive will host Senior Day on Saturday, April 5, with a league matchup against Emmanuel, starting at 11 a.m.
