MOUNT OLIVE (April 5) – Behind a shutout performance in the second half on Saturday, the Trojans captured a critical 20-8 victory over Emmanuel on Senior Day in Conference Carolinas play at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team secures a sixth consecutive win to improve to 7-6 this season behind a 6-1 mark in conference action. The Trojans remain a perfect 9-0 in the all-time series against the Lions while scoring at least 20 goals in six contests. Meanwhile, Emmanuel drops to 6-7 overall with a 2-4 record in league play.

Logan Hibbard led the Trojans with a six-point performance following five goals and one assist while adding five caused turnovers, four draw controls, and three ground balls. Sophomore
Kayanna Bowden registered four goals and four ground balls against the Lions. Senior
Rileigh White posted two goals, two assists, and three ground balls, while senior
Lena DeFilippo tallied a hat trick.
In the first quarter, UMO established an early 2-0 lead in the opening three minutes with Bowden and White finding the back of the cage. Emmanuel countered with a goal at the 10:46 mark, but the Trojans recorded four unanswered goals to take a 6-1 edge. Hibbard and Bowden each produced goals on extra-man opportunities while junior

Jenna Mish tallied goals. The Lions delivered a strong finish to the quarter, scoring four of the final five goals to cut the deficit to 7-5. Mount Olive quickly regained a six-goal lead in the initial five minutes of the second with Hibbard completing her hat-trick while Bowden and White added to the advantage. Emmanuel battled back once again with three consecutive goals to trail 11-8. Freshman
Morghan Pollock and Hibbard scored in the final 53 seconds to head into the break with a 13-8 edge.
The Trojan defense shut down a potent Emmanuel offense in the second half after allowing zero goals and just four total shots. UMO delivered five goals in the third quarter with Hibbard, redshirt sophomore
Katie Broom, Bowden, Pollock, and DeFilippo all scoring, 18-8. DeFilippo capped off Senior Day with two goals in the fourth to complete her hat-trick, 20-8.

The Trojans outshot the Lions by a 47-25 margin and finished 16-of-20 on clearances.
Mount Olive returns to their home turf on Tuesday, April 8, when it hosts Lander in non-conference play at 3 p.m.
