Channie Jefferson and freshman
Janara Bryant set new Mount Olive records on Friday, as the University of Mount Olive women's track & field program registered four NCAA Provisional Standards while competing at the 8th Annual Adidas Trojan Challenge hosted at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
Jefferson set a new program record in the 100-meter hurdles in the preliminaries with a blistering pace of 13.66 seconds, which also reached the NCAA standard. She secured a first-place finish in the event following a time of 13.98 in the finals. Jefferson boasts the third-fastest time in the NCAA Division II this season. Additionally, she finished second overall in the long jump and hit the conference qualifying mark with a leap of 5.63 meters.
Bryant delivered an outstanding performance at her first home meet with the Trojans. She established a new UMO record in the triple jump and placed first overall with a distance of 12.28 meters, which hit the NCAA provisional mark. She ranks third in NCAA Division II in the event following her performance on Friday. Additionally, Bryant captured first place in the high jump after clearing 1.60 meters to reach the league standard. She also registered a third-place finish and reached the conference mark with a leap of 5.50 meters in the long jump.

Haniyyah Johnson, sophomore
Heavan Roberts, and freshman
Sanyiah Shields reached the NCAA standard with a time of 46.40 seconds.
In the hammer throw, sophomore
Elin Rydqvist earned a first-place finish with a toss of 53.70 meters, which hit the NCAA mark. Senior
Rolanda Desir-Moreau finished second with a distance of 47.37 meters, while sophomore
Peyton Bucher placed third with a mark of 43.67 meters.
Shields captured first place and improved her conference qualifying time in the 200 meters after crossing the line in 24.60 seconds. Senior
Kiwanna Pemberton finished third overall in the event with an improved time of 25.71 seconds.
In the shot put, freshman
Jasmine Colwell secured first place with a toss of 12.12 meters, which was an improved conference mark. Junior
Ashley Lindsey placed second with a distance of 11.73 meters, while senior
Kaitlin Kenan finished third with a mark of 11.24 meters.
Johnson reached the league qualifying standards in the long jump and placed first overall with a leap of 5.69 meters. Senior
Karla Hormazabal reached the conference mark in the event following a distance of 5.30 meters.
In the discus, junior
Kenisha Barnes delivered a first-place finish with a mark of 37.92 meters. Freshman
Isabelle Grena secured third place in the event with an improved distance of 34.71 meters.
Sophomore
MacKenna Gallon finished second overall in the javelin with a toss of 30.00 meters.
Additionally, in the 100-meter hurdles, senior
Tylyia Triggs recorded an improved time of 14.80 seconds in the prelims before finishing third overall. Pemberton placed fourth with a time of 14.82 seconds while sophomore
Keianna Mims hit the league mark after crossing the line in 15.68 seconds.
Hormazabal also produced a second-place finish in the triple jump and hit the league qualifying standard with a leap of 11.93 meters. Junior
Keza Green finished third overall in the event with a distance of 11.36 meters.
Freshman
Linn Andrea Lindevik captured second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.55, while junior
Ruby Cofone placed fourth with a mark of 2:34.33. Additionally, Lindevik recorded a third-place finish in the 1500 meters with a qualifying time of 5:00.28.
In the 100 meters, Nicholson placed second overall after crossing the line in 11.97 seconds. Roberts posted an improved time of 11.97 seconds in the prelims before finishing third overall in the finals. Shields secured fourth overall with an enhanced time of 12.06 seconds.
Roberts also hit the conference standard in the 400 meters and placed second with a time of 1:00.40. Freshman
Joella Smith finished third in the event with a time of 1:01.66 while competing at her home meet.
The Trojans are scheduled to return to action April 4-5 at the VertKlasse Meeting, hosted by High Points.
