TIGERVILLE, S.C. (March 22) – Fifth-year
Logan Hibbard tied a school record with seven assists in a single game, as the Trojan offense shined in an 18-5 victory at North Greenville on Saturday afternoon in Conference Carolinas play.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team collects a third straight win to improve to 4-6 this season behind a 3-1 mark in Conference Carolinas action. The Trojans hold a 13-0 record in the all-time series with the Trailblazers dating back to 2015. Meanwhile, North Greenville drops to 3-7 overall with a 1-1 record in league play.
Hibbard led the way following an eight-point performance with one goal and seven assists while adding seven draw controls, one caused turnover, and one ground ball. She became just the fourth player in program history to hit the school record, which was last achieved by Jackie Kaderabek in 2019 versus Converse.
Sophomore
Caroline Clark contributed three goals, one assist, two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and one draw control. Freshman
Morghan Pollock delivered a breakout performance with three goals, one assist, two ground balls, and one caused turnover. Senior
Rileigh White tallied a four-point game behind one goal and three assists, while sophomore
Kayanna Bowden recorded a hat trick on Saturday.
In the first quarters, the Trojans established an early 1-0 advantage as freshman
Lyndzy Palensky found the back of the cage just 23 seconds into the contest. Mount Olive quickly increased the lead to 2-0 with Pollock scoring her first goal of the game off an assist by White at the 9:52 mark. In the final four minutes of the quarter, Pollock, White, and Clark each registered a goal to extend the advantage to 5-0. The Trailblazers snapped its scoreless drought in the opening minutes of the second quarter to trail by a 5-1 margin, but the Trojans countered with six unanswered goals. Bowden produced her opening goal of the match at the 10:52 mark off an assist by Hibbard before freshman
Reese Weddle, Palensky, and Clark all scored in a span of two-plus minutes, 9-1. Clark and Bowden would each find the back of the net in the final minute to take an 11-1 advantage into the break.
With the running clock in place for the third quarter, Mount Olive scored four consecutive goals, including Bowden and Pollock completing their hat tricks to hold a 15-1 lead. NGU countered with a goal at the 6:19 mark of the third, but fifth-year
Jenna Mish recorded a goal with 38 seconds left to take a 16-2 advantage into the final 15 minutes. In the fourth, graduate student
Sara Livingstone produced a free position goal at the 12:08 mark before the Trailblazers scored three of the final four goals with UMO ultimately claiming an 18-5 win.
Senior goalkeeper
Anna James registered the win after playing in three-plus quarters of action with three saves, while sophomore
Karissa Doerr closed out the final 12 minutes of the fourth and collected three saves. Defensively, sophomore Simone McGraw totaled five caused turnovers, six ground balls, and four draw controls.
The Trojans held a significant 28-14 edge in shots while boasting a 14-11 edge in draw controls.
Mount Olive returns to Conference Carolinas action on Wednesday, March 26, when it hosts Chowan at 4 p.m.
