MYRTLE BEACH (March 22) – The University of Mount Olive women's track & field program produced three NCAA provisional standards and two school records while posting a fifth-place finish in the team standings at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational this weekend.
In the team standings, Coastal Carolina captured the team title with 171 points, while Mount St. Mary's finished second overall with 100 points. Fayetteville State placed third with 85 while Nova Southeastern (74) and Mount Olive (62) rounded out the top five in a field of 29 programs.
Freshman
Futoria Harris competed in her first outdoor meet of the season and set a new Mount Olive record in the 200 meters after crossing the line in 23.68 seconds to place first overall. Her mark hit the NCAA standard and ranks third in NCAA Division II in the early portion of the season.
Senior
Tylyia Triggs reset her program record in the heptathlon after totaling 3702 points to place sixth overall. She registered three personal best marks at the meet, including in the 100-meter hurdles (14.89), 200-meter dash (27.71), and high jump (1.39m).
In the hammer throw, sophomore
Elin Rydqvist hit the NCAA provisional mark and placed second overall with a toss of 55.07 meters on her third attempt, which ranks fifth in NCAA Division II. Senior
Rolanda Desir-Moreau finished third overall with a distance of 48.65 meters.
The 4x100 meter relay team of senior
Lasira Nicholson, Harris, sophomore
Heavan Roberts, and junior
Haniyyah Johnson set an NCAA standard and finished first overall after posting a time of 46.21 seconds, which sits seventh in NCAA Division II.
In the 100 meters, Nicholson hit the conference standard in the event after placing second and crossing the line in 11.89 seconds. Roberts recorded a sixth-place finish and established a league mark with a time of 12.08 seconds.
Sophomore
Keianna Mims improved her conference qualifying mark in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.63 to place fourth. Additionally, freshman
Amiliana Simmons improved her league standard in the event after crossing the line in 1:06.62 to finish eighth overall.
Junior
Ashley Lindsey earned a fifth-place finish in the shot put and set a conference mark with a toss of 12.02 meters.
Roberts hit the league standard in the 200-meter dash and placed eighth overall with a time of 24.82 seconds.
Freshman
Linn Andrea Lindevik registered a seventh-place finish in the 800 meters after crossing the line in 2:21.09.
In the javelin, sophomore
MacKenna Gallon claimed eighth overall following a distance of 31.87 meters.
Junior
Channie Jefferson set a league mark in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.46 seconds in the preliminaries.
Freshman
Jasmine Colwell established a conference standard in the discus with a toss of 36.71 meters.
Mount Olive will host the Adidas Trojan Challenge next weekend on March 28-29 at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
