Trojans close out season with loss at UNCP, 67-39

PEMBROKE, N.C. (Feb. 26) – Junior Jada Priebe recorded a team-high 13 points on Wednesday evening, as the University of Mount Olive women's basketball team fell by a 67-39 margin in Conference Carolinas action in the regular season finale.

With the loss, the Trojans conclude the 2024-25 season with a 3-22 overall record while going 2-18 in conference play. Meanwhile, UNC Pembroke secured a share of the East Division title after posting a 21-7 mark behind a 15-5 record in league action.

Priebe scored a team-best 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting while adding five rebounds and three blocks in 26 minutes of action. Sophomore Anna Miller tallied six points, four rebounds, and one steal in 29 minutes. Freshman Jerin Truesdale added six points and two rebounds while sophomore Kayana Cloud also contributed six points while collecting four rebounds.

Mount Olive jumped ahead by a 9-4 margin in the first quarter, led by Priebe with seven points. Over the final five minutes, UNCP mounted an 11-5 run on five-of-six shooting to take a 15-14 edge into the second. The Braves climbed the lead to 24-16 in the initial minutes of the quarter following a 9-2 run before Cloud hit a layup. UNCP scored seven of the final nine points to head into halftime with a 30-21 advantage.

In the third, the Braves recorded 11 unanswered points to build a 42-20 lead before the sides traded baskets for the remainder of the quarter. With UNC Pembroke ahead by a 49-28 margin entering the fourth, the Trojans were unable to find offensive success in the final quarter to drop a 67-39 decision.

The Trojans finished the game shooting 29.6 percent (16-of-54) from the floor and converted 4-of-16 (25.0 percent) from three-point range. Meanwhile, the Braves shot at a 48.3 clip (28-of-58) from the field and made 7-of-17 (41.2 percent) from beyond the arc. UNC Pembroke held a 38-33 rebounding advantage with 21 points off 18 turnovers. Mount Olive scored 20 points in the paint and 16 points off the bench.

UNCP sophomore Natalie Evington finished with a game-high 15 points and grabbed three rebounds in 19 minutes. Redshirt senior Hannah Russell registered 14 points on 7-of-13 shooting with six rebounds and two steals. Seniors Stella Mollica and Zaria Clark also reached double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
