GREENVILLE, S.C. (Jan. 28) – After a career-best performance in the shot put, University of Mount Olive freshman Jasmine Colwell earned Conference Carolinas Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

A freshman from Leland, North Carolina, Colwell improved her conference-leading mark in the shot put, as Mount Olive competed at the VMI Invitational. She placed fifth overall in the event following a season-best distance of 13.09 meters, which ranks second all-time at UMO.

Colwell holds a top-eight mark in both the shot put and weight throw in the Conference Carolinas.

The Trojans will return to action from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1 at the Bast-Cregger Multi Invitational in Salem, Virginia.
