LEXINGTON, Va. (Jan. 25) – Senior
Karla Hormazabal set an NCAA Provisional Standard and earned first place in the triple jump, as the Trojans competed at the VMI Invitational over the weekend.
In the triple jump, Hormazabal claimed the event title following a leap of 11.88 meters on her third attempt to reach the NCAA mark for the third time this season. She still holds the top mark in the Southeast Region and ranks seventh in NCAA Division II. Additionally, junior
Keza Green secured fifth place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.48 meters on Saturday.
Freshman
Jasmine Colwell earned a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a league-best toss of 13.09 meters, which ranks second all-time at Mount Olive.
Junior
Channie Jefferson registered a conference-qualifying standard in the 400 meters after crossing the line with a time of 58.35 to place fifth overall.
In the weight throw, senior
Rolanda Desir-Moreau improved her league standard with a distance of 15.63 meters to finish sixth in Virginia. Fellow senior
Kaitlin Kenan also hit the conference-qualifying mark with a toss of 14.25 meters.
Hormazabal also competed in two additional events, as she tied her season-best mark in the high jump after clearing 1.55 meters and placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 5.45 meters.
In her first collegiate meet, freshman
Linn Andrea Lindevik established two conference marks after recording a time of 5:28.52 in the mile and crossing the line in 2:27.85 in the 800 meters.
The 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore

Heavan Roberts, freshman
Macie Inman, and Jefferson delivered a season-best time of 4:08.04.
Roberts also competed in the 60-meter dash and recorded a time of 7.73 in the prelims before recording a mark of 7.74 in the semifinals.
Freshman
Zaria Washington improved her league standard in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.44, which sits eighth in program history. Senior
Kiwanna Pemberton also qualified in the event after crossing the line in 9.65 seconds.
Mount Olive is set to compete on Jan. 31-Feb. 1 at the South Carolina Invitational in Columbia, South Carolina.
