HARROGATE, TN (Sept. 11) – In the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) opener, sophomore
Jemimah Kriechelberg scored the game-winner, as the No. 7 ranked University of Mount Olive field hockey program battled to a 1-0 victory at Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday.
With the win, the Trojans improve to 2-1 this season behind a 1-0 record in conference play. Mount Olive holds a 28-game winning streak in league action after posting back-to-back undefeated records in SAC play. Meanwhile, the Lady Railsplitters fall to 0-3 overall with an identical record in the conference action.
Mount Olive applied offensive pressure in the opening minutes of the first quarter after earning a pair of penalty corners while two shots missed wide of the goal. LMU secured a penalty corner in the final minute of the quarter, but the contest remained scoreless. In the second quarter, both sides saw limited opportunities with the Trojans lacing a shot wide of the net off a penalty corner.
Following the halftime break, Mount Olive delivered a dominant third quarter after posting an 8-0 advantage shots against the Lady Railsplitters. The Trojans tallied all eight shots in a seven-minute span, but the LMU goalkeeper collected seven stops to keep the contest deadlocked. Annefleur Moerkerken peppered a shot from the top of the circle, which was deflected in the top of the cage by Kriechelberg.

Alanna Barrett secured the victory after facing two shots in 60 minutes of play.
UMO finished with a 15-2 shot advantage in the victory while holding a 12-2 lead in penalty corners.
Mount Olive returns to South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m., when it faces Coker at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
