GREENVILLE, S.C. (June 19) – For the first time in his career,
Guilherme Zotin de Oliveira was voted the Conference Carolinas Spring Scholar-Athlete of the Year Presented by Hudl on Wednesday, as released by the league office.
The Scholar-Athlete awards Presented by Hudl are awarded annually to one individual in each Conference Carolinas sponsored sport. The Scholar-Athlete of the Year winners are chosen by the Conference Carolinas Student-Athlete Affairs and Awards Committee. To be considered, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher. In addition, the nominees for the award must have been named all-conference in their sport and also chosen academic all-conference.
An All-Conference Carolinas First-Team selection, de Oliveira competed in the first position in both doubles and singles for the Trojans. In singles play, he closed the season with a seven-match winning streak and held an impressive 13-4 overall record with a 6-1 mark in conference action. Alongside freshman
Kristoffer Dalbak, de Oliveira delivered a 12-8 record behind a 5-3 mark in league play. The UMO men's tennis program received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history after finishing runner-up in the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
A native of Rio Claro, Brazil, de Oliveira graduated with a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Mount Olive while maintaining a 3.72 grade-point-average (GPA).
