SUMTER, S.C. – The University of Mount Olive tennis teams advanced several athletes to day two of the ITA Southeast Regional Championships.

In Flight A doubles, Simone Szovan and Nina Bernier fell 8-3 in the round of 16 to Young Harris' Maud Scholten and Futaba Saito.

In singles, Victoria Calle dropped a 3-6, 6-0, (6-10) match to Lenoir-Rhyne's Mehetia Boosie in the Flight A consolation first round. Szovan also faced Francis Marion's Lara Lanno in consolation play.

Bernier battled past UVA Wise's Lucy Cunliffe 7-5, 7-5 in Flight B consolation singles and will meet Hazel Vernon of Newberry in the quarterfinals.

Kristoffer Dalbak and Philip Peter Carstensen fell 8-6 to Belmont Abbey's Charlie Fremaux and Isaac Buerkle in the round of 16.

Bram Poel defeated North Georgia's Ben Brandl 3-6, 6-4, (10-8) in the Flight A consolation first round and will face Emmanuel's Murilo Gracio Martins in the round of 16.

In Flight B singles, Niklas Gruenefeldt dropped a tight match to Lenoir-Rhyne's Paul Daniel Meyer 6-4, 2-6, (9-11).

Bernier and Poel advanced to day three of Regionals.
