INDIANAPOLIS (May 6) – For the eighth time in program history, the University of Mount Olive men's tennis program will make an appearance on the national stage after receiving an at-large bid and the No. 8 seed in the Southeast Regional of the NCAA Tournament on Monday night.
The Trojans garnered an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. Mount Olive returns to the Southeast Regional for the first time since 2021 under first-year head coach Jake McCartney. UMO will face top-seeded Flager (17-2), the No. 2 ranked team in Division II and the Peach Belt Champions, in the opening semifinal match on Monday. The Saints will serve as hosts of one of the two pods. The Trojans enter the NCAA Tournament with an impressive 17-5 overall record and finished runner-up at the Conference Carolinas Tournament last week.
Columbus State (12-7) earned the second-overall seed and will host the other pod in Columbus, Georgia with the entire regional tournament comprised of eight teams. The semifinal matches are scheduled for Monday, May 13 with UMO facing Flagler at 11 a.m. at the Pollard Tennis Center in St. Augustine, Florida. In the other semifinal match, Lander (11-5), the fourth-seed, will take on No. 5 Wingate (17-5), the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Champions, at 3 p.m. In the Columbus State pod, the Cougars will face No. 7 Belmont Abbey (25-18), the Conference Carolinas Champions, at 10 a.m. In the second semifinal, No. 3 North Georgia (13-8) will take on sixth-seed Augusta (10-7) at 1 p.m. in the Peach State.
The winner of each pod will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship, which will be played May 21-25 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
