NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. (April 9) – After remaining undefeated in conference play over the weekend, the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team remained No. 25 in the latest Inside Lacrosse Women (ILWomen)/Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) poll, which was released by the organization on Monday.
The Trojans recently captured their 41st straight conference victory following a 24-11 win over rival Barton on Monday night at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex. Defensively, UMO ranks 11th in NCAA Division II with 12.75 caused turnovers per game, while pacing the Conference Carolinas in scoring defense (9.17). Sophomore
Madison Dow recently received her second straight Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week honor after finishing with three caused turnovers and seven ground balls.
Pace remains atop the national poll behind a perfect 10-0 record with 13 first-place votes. West Chester garnered four-first place nods to sit second overall and also holds a 10-0 mark this season while Adelphi (9-1) continues to rank No. 3 with the final first-place vote. Florida Southern (11-3) checked in at No. 4 in the latest rankings and Tampa (10-3) climbed two positions to round out the top five.
The ILWomen/IWLCA Division II Poll will be unveiled on Mondays throughout the season. It is voted on jointly by coaches throughout the country and members of the media.
The Trojans will return to Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday, April 10, as they travels to face Chowan at 3 p.m.
