WINGATE, N.C. (April 8) - In The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team was pitted up against the No. 12 ranked Wingate University Bulldogs Wednesday afternoon and took home the ranked win with a final score of 9-8.
With the win, the Trojans advance to 9-4 overall while the No.12 Bulldogs drop to 10-3 overall in the final weeks of the lacrosse season.
Jordan Bolam, a freshman, finished the game with two turnovers and a hat-trick, scoring three goals on each of her shots with one ground ball.Senior
Katie Broom followed suit with two goals, two assists, one caused, and finishing her numbers with one turnover. Sophomore
Morghan Pollock also scored on both of her shots, retrieving one ground ball and forcing one turnover. Both freshman

Jazna Dumont added one goal to the Trojans' total. Berg earned a draw control, contributed one assist, two ground balls, and two turnovers. Dumont scored a goal, earned a draw control, and forced one turnover.
On defense, sophomore
Alex Goodale claimed three ground balls and forced two turnovers, while senior
Giavahna Gasdia showed up snatching four ground balls and forcing three turnovers.
Simone McCraw, a junior, has caused four turnovers and captured two ground balls.
Mikhaila Mendell, a senior, used one ground ball to generate three turnovers during the game.
With an assist from senior
Alexa Fitzgerald, Pollock scored the game's opening goal at 11:23 to take a 1-0 lead in the first quarter. About a minute and a half later, Dumont scored the game's second goal with Elliiott's help, and Bolam scored the third goal with Broom's help. With a final score of 3-1, UMO keeps Wingate scoreless for nearly the entire first quarter until 1:41. The next three quarters were low-scoring, going 2-2 in the second and 2-0 for Wingate in the third. After that, the Trojans scored four goals and the Bulldogs scored three, but they ultimately lost because they were never able to catch up.
Junior goalkeeper
Ruby Burandt totaled six saves on 14 shots faced in her 60 minutes of action claiming four ground balls and causing one turnover.
The Trojans will continue to play on Saturday, April 11, against Shorter University at 12 p.m. on the road to play in their second to last game before conference championships.
