MOUNT OLIVE – The University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team won 19-8 against conference opponent Barton College in a Wednesday evening match up.
The first half was close between the Trojans and the Bulldogs with the score only being 8-5. The Trojans out shot the Bulldogs 17-7 and won 13 of the 14 draw controls in the first two quarters. The last two quarters is when Mount Olive picked the pace, scoring 11 goals, out shooting 15-8.
With a total of 11 cards between both teams, UMO had six goals that were scored on Man-Up opportunities. Goal scorers for the Trojans were
Maddy Fratus and
Katie Broom both had four goals,
Karsyn Elliott had three,
Morghan Pollock,
Alexa Fitzgerald, and
Ava Mullen all had two, and
Jordan Bolam had one. There were four Trojans who had Assists, Broom, Elliott, Fitszgerald, and
Libby Berg.
Goalkeepers
Ruby Burandt and
Molly Pulliam went in for Mount Olive Burandt taking the win. Pulliam had five saves with only three goals against and Burandt had two saves with five goals against.
Simone McCraw stood out on defense with three caused turnovers with five ground balls.
UMO will hit the road to compete against Emmanuel University in Franklin Springs, Ga. at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
