MOUNT OLIVE (April 8) – Behind three players with at least seven points, the No. 25 ranked Trojans continued their undefeated streak in Conference Carolinas play with a 24-11 win over Barton on Monday night at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse team improves to 11-3 overall behind a 6-0 mark in conference action. The Trojans remain undefeated in the series with the Bulldogs moving to 9-0 all-time while also collecting their 41st consecutive league win. Meanwhile, Barton falls to 5-10 this season with a 2-5 mark in league play.
Senior
Logan Hibbard delivered an eight-point performance with five goals and three assists while adding three draw controls, four caused turnovers, and four ground balls. Junior
Teagan Dunnett registered six goals, one assist, one caused turnover, and five ground balls against the Bulldogs. Junior
Rileigh White finished with a seven-point performance behind five goals and two assists while tallying six draw controls and three ground balls.
In the first quarter, the Trojans quickly established a 3-0 advantage with freshman
Kayanna Bowden netting the opening goal on a free-position shot at the 14:32 mark of the contest. Dunnett and White followed up with back-to-back goals before Barton scored consecutive goals to trim the deficit to 3-2. Mount Olive responded with two goals in less than a minute from Hibbard and Dunnett to extend the lead to 5-2 before the Bulldogs scored again at the 8:11 mark. Bria Hamilton each rattled the back of the cage, 8-4. White scored the initial goal of the second quarter down two players due to cards before Barton netted back-to-back goals to trim the deficit to 9-6. Mount Olive scored three unanswered goals to build a 12-6 lead before netting three of the final five goals of the half to take a 15-8 advantage into the break.
The Trojan defense held the Bulldogs scoreless in the third quarter while netting five additional goals to take a 20-8 lead. Bowden registered a goal at the 9:29 mark before Dunnett and White added to their stat sheet midway through the quarter. In the closing minutes, Hibbard and White scored in the span of two minutes to hold a 12-goal advantage into the final 15 minutes of the game. Barton recorded a goal in the opening minutes of the fourth before the Trojans scored four straight goals with a pair by Dunnett to hold a significant 24-9 lead. The Bulldogs delivered two goals in the final minutes, as UMO secured the 24-11 victory.

Anna James earned the victory in the cage after collecting nine saves and three ground balls in 50-plus minutes. Freshman
Karissa Doerr entered in the fourth quarter and closed out the final 9:14 while posting one save in the game. Defensively, Hibbard finished with four caused turnovers while junior
Rileigh Kucera registered three caused turnovers.
Mount Olive will return to Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday, April 10, as it travels to face Chowan at 3 p.m.
