MURFREESBORO, N.C. (April 10) – With four players recording hat tricks on Wednesday afternoon, the No. 25 ranked University of Mount Olive women's lacrosse program rolled past Chowan by a 19-1 margin in Conference Carolinas action.
With the win, the Trojans collect a third consecutive victory and improve to 12-3 this season with an undefeated 7-0 record in league play. Mount Olive has 11 straight wins over Chowan and continues to sit atop the conference standings following two wins in the last three days. Meanwhile, the Hawks drop to 6-5 overall behind a 3-4 mark in conference action.
Senior
Logan Hibbard led the UMO offense with a six-point performance behind four goals and two assists while adding six draw controls, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Fifth-year
Bria Hamilton finished with four goals, one assist, three caused turnovers, and five ground balls against the Hawks. Junior
Teagan Dunnett produced a four-point performance with two goals and two assists, while junior
Lena DeFilippo and freshman
Caroline Clark registered hat tricks.
After a scoreless opening five minutes, Dunnett scored on a man-up opportunity at the 9:47 mark before Hibbard netted back-to-back goals to extend the lead to 3-0. Clark rattled the back of the cage with three-plus minutes left in the first before Mount Olive scored four more times over the final 2:20 of the initial quarter. During those two minutes, Logan capped her first-quarter hat trick while Hamilton scored twice and freshman
Kayanna Bowden registered her first goal of the contest, 8-0. The Trojans would score four additional goals in the second quarter, as Hamilton completed her hat trick while Hibbard and DeFilippo added the score sheet, 12-0. Defensively, UMO held the Hawks scoreless through the opening two quarters while forcing 20 turnovers.
With the clock running to begin the third quarter, Clark registered her second goal of the game at the 13:24 mark before the Hawks produced their lone goal of the game, 13-1. Mount Olive totaled four more goals over the final seven-plus minutes of the quarter with Dunnett, DeFilippo, Clark, and junior
Rileigh White all scoring, 17-1. In the final quarter, DeFilippo finished her hat trick at the 9:26 mark while senior
Sara Livingstone scored in the final seconds to secure a 19-1 win.

Karissa Doerr finished the final 30 minutes of the contest.
Defensively, sophomore
Madison Dow led the team with four caused turnovers while collecting three ground balls. Hamilton, White, and freshman
Simone McCraw each forced three caused turnovers against the Hawks.
The Trojans return to Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex on Saturday, April 13, for Senior Day against Lees-McRae, starting at 3 p.m.
