GREENVILLE, N.C. (April 6) – Senior Adrienne Crawford posted an NCAA Provisional Standard and a career-best mark in the hammer throw over the weekend, as the Trojans competed at the Bill Carson Invitational hosted by ECU.  

The University of Mount Olive women's track & field program posted a third-place finish in the team standings with 129 points. The host Pirates collected the team title with 311 points while UNCW placed second overall with 136 points.

Crawford registered the event victory in the hammer throw on Friday following a toss of 54.06 meters to improve her NCAA standard while also recording the third-best mark in UMO history. She currently sits 11th in NCAA Division II in the event following this weekend of competition. Additionally, Crawford posted a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 11.55 meters.

The 4x400-meter relay team of senior Vinesha Briggs, senior Natalyah Wilson, junior Celine Fleurilus, and sophomore Channie Jefferson posted a time of 4:02.29 to earn first place while recording the second-best time in the Conference Carolinas.

In the 400-meter hurdles, Jefferson captured first place with a season-best time of 1:04.05 and ranks third in the league this season. Junior Kiwanna Pemberton finished runner-up with a time of 1:10.34 while competing at ECU.

Junior Danielle Trimbur finished second overall in the javelin following a toss of 40.42 meters.

The 4x100-relay team of Jefferson, freshman Kiara Campbell, junior Lasira Nicholson, and Briggs recorded a second-place finish with a time of 47.11 on Saturday.

Sophomore Chianel Asoburuenwu delivered a runner-up finish in the 100 meters with a time of 11.74 seconds, while also finishing second overall in the 200 meters after crossing the line in 24.31 seconds. Additionally, in the 100 meters, Nicholson placed fourth with a time of 12.02, which ranks fourth all-time at Mount Olive. Campbell posted an eighth-place finish in the event with a season-best time of 12.24 seconds.

In the 800 meters, Fleurilus registered a season-best time of 2:19.80 to place third overall, while also holding the third-best time in the Conference Carolinas. Sophomore Ciara Sulton finished sixth overall with a time of 2:33.88.

Briggs finished on the podium in the 400 meters with a time of 57.84 seconds to place third while Wilson finished fourth with a mark of 58.07 seconds.

Jefferson also recorded a season-best time of 14.72 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles to place third while Pemberton produced a season-best mark of 14.86 seconds, which ranks third all-time at UMO.

Junior Karla Hormazabal posted a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 11.73 meters, while placing sixth in the long jump with a season-best mark of 5.37 meters. Senior Kiana Hatchett recorded a sixth-place finish in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 11.14 meters and placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 5.18 meters.

Freshman Destiny Faison placed sixth overall in the discus with a distance of 37.17 meters.
 
Mount Olive will host the Trojan Relays next week on Friday, April 12, at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
