MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (April 26) – The senior duo of
Adrienne Crawford and
Danielle Trimbur combined for a pair of event titles on Friday, as the University of Mount Olive women's track & field program sits atop the team standings after Day 1 at the Conference Carolinas Championship.
The Trojans totaled 42 points in the team standings at the league championships with six events finished on Day 1. UMO scored in three events in the opening session with points rewarded in the hammer throw, javelin, and long jump. Converse currently sits second with 38 points while North Greenville rounds out the top three with 37 points.
In the hammer throw, Mount Olive featured three individuals in the top-eight scoring positions to capture 22 of a possible 39 points in the event. Crawford captured her first outdoor individual title and hit the NCAA Provo mark with a distance of 54.16 meters on her fifth attempt. Freshman
Elin Rydqvist finished runner-up with a season-best mark of 53.28 meters, which is an NCAA Standard. Senior
Rolanda Desir-Moreau placed fifth overall in the hammer with a toss of 44.22 meters.
Trimbur completed the four-peat in the javelin after recording a first-place finish with a season-best mark of 41.29 meters. Freshman
MacKenna Gallon finished fourth with a toss of 33.93 meters while Crawford placed fifth with a career-best distance of 33.39 meters.
Sophomore
Channie Jefferson placed eighth overall in the long jump after posting a distance of 5.58 meters on Friday.
Mount Olive returns to action at the Conference Carolinas Championships on Saturday, April 27, with events starting at 10:00 a.m.
