Regional Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS (April 24) – The University of Mount Olive men's tennis team was ranked No. 6 in the Southeast Region when the NCAA Division II Men's Tennis Committee unveiled the first ranked order of regional rankings on Wednesday.
The NCAA regional rankings determine the participants for the NCAA Tournament. The Southeast Region consists of the Conference Carolinas (CC), the South Atlantic Conference (SAC), and the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). All three conference tournament champions receive an automatic bid with the top-five remaining teams in the final regional rankings receiving at-large bids.
Flagler received the top ranking in the poll with a 14-2 overall record while boasting the toughest in-region strength of schedule. Columbus State, the national runner-up, sits second with an 11-5 overall record, and North Georgia (12-5) holds the third spot. Lander was selected fourth behind an 11-4 mark, while Wingate (17-3) ranks fifth and has already claimed the automatic bid in SAC after winning the conference tournament. Mount Olive was slotted sixth overall with a 14-3 record while holding the third-best winning percentage in-region.
Augusta (7-5), Young Harris (11-6), Catawba (14-7), and Belmont Abbey (16-8) rounded out the top 10 teams listed in the rankings.
The Trojans have posted a 2-2 record this season against the region's ranked programs and will open play at the Conference Carolinas Championship against North Greenville on Friday, April 26.
