MOUNT OLIVE/DURHAM, N.C. (April 13) – The University of Mount Olive women's track & field team established four NCAA standards while competing at the final day of Trojan Relays as well as the Duke Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
At the Trojans Relays, the Trojans completed the hammer throw, which was the final event of the weekend at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex. Junior
Adrienne Crawford improved her NCAA mark with a toss of 56.41 meters to earn the event victory while moving up to ninth in NCAA Division II in the hammer. Additionally, freshman
Elin Rydqvist hit the NCAA standard for the first time in her career with a distance of 53.23 meters to finish runner-up. Her mark ranks second in the Conference Carolinas and sits fourth all-time at Mount Olive. Sophomore
Kenisha Barnes placed third overall with a toss of 51.68 meters.
At Duke, the 4x100 relay team of freshman
Kiara Campbell, sophomore
Chianel Asoburuenwu, junior
Lasira Nicholson, and sophomore
Channie Jefferson placed fifth overall with a time of 46.34 seconds, which ranks first in the Conference Carolinas this season.
In the 4x400 relay, the squad of senior
Vinesha Briggs, senior
Natalyah Wilson, Asoburuenwu, and Jefferson recorded an eighth-place finish after crossing the line at 3:47.12, which is the fastest time in the league.
The Trojans return to action next week at the USC Open in Columbia, South Carolina, on Saturday, April 20.
