MOUNT OLIVE (April 12) – The University of Mount Olive women's track & field program registered four victories on Friday while competing at their home meet, The Trojan Relay, at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
Sophomore
Channie Jefferson captured the event title in the 400-meter hurdles after crossing the line with a season-best time of 1:02.47, which ranks second in the Conference Carolinas this season. She also qualified in the long jump with a season-best distance of 5.63 meters to record a second-place finish.
Junior
Lasira Nicholson posted a first-place finish in the 100 meters with a time of 11.70 seconds, which ranks second-fastest in the Conference Carolinas this season. In the prelims of the event, she registered a time of 11.89 seconds, which ranked fourth all-time in program history. Additionally, Nicholson placed seventh overall with a personal-best time of 25.12 seconds.
In the javelin, senior
Danielle Trimbur registered her third event victory of the season following a toss of 38.87 meters. Freshman
MacKenna Gallon finished runner-up with a distance of 32.42 meters on Friday.
Junior
Celine Fleurilus registered a first-place finish in the 5000 meters after crossing the line with a career-best time of 19:28.82. Sophomore
Natalie Baldwin placed fourth overall with a mark of 21:10.17 while competing in the event.
Fellow junior
Adrienne Crawford finished second overall in the discus at The Trojan Relays with a distance of 39.69 meters.
Senior
Natalyah Wilson produced a third-place finish in the high jump after matching her season-best mark of 1.55 meters. Junior
Karla Hormazabal placed fourth in the event after clearing 1.50 meters. Additionally, Wilson recorded a season-best time of 24.97 seconds in the 200 meters, which was the sixth-best time in program history.
In the long jump, sophomore
Keza Green placed third overall with a leap of 5.48 meters to hit the league standard, which ranks eighth all-time at Mount Olive.
Junior
Kiwanna Pemberton hit the conference qualifying standard with a time of 1:09.56 in the 400-meter hurdles.
Sophomore
Ciara Sulton competed in the 800 meters and placed fourth after crossing the line with a time of 2:29.66.
In the triple jump, senior
Kiana Hatchett placed third overall with a mark of 10.90 meters.
The Trojans will compete tomorrow, Saturday, April 13, at the Trojan Relays and Duke Invitational.
