MOUNT OLIVE (March 22) – The University of Mount Olive women's track & field program tallied 11 event wins and three NCAA Provisional Standards while competing at the seventh-annual Adidas Trojans Challenge hosted at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex on Friday.
Junior
Adrienne Crawford reached the podium in all three events she competed in while registering a pair of victories in the discus and hammer throw. She hit the NCAA mark and finished first overall with a distance of 53.66 meters in the hammer, which leads the Conference Carolinas this season. In the discus, Crawford registered the top mark with a toss of 44.96 meters and holds the top spot in the league in the event. She also posted a second-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 11.85 meters.
Sophomore
Chianel Asoburuenwu delivered an NCAA Provisional Standard in the 100 meters after crossing the line with a time of 11.73 seconds, which ranks second all-time in UMO history. She finished runner-up in the 200m and hit the league mark with a time of 25.07 seconds. Asoburuenwu also recorded a conference standard in the 400 meters with a time of 58.00 seconds to place fifth overall.

Channie Jefferson, Asoburuenwu, freshman
Heavan Roberts, and junior
Lasira Nicholson reached the NCAA mark with a conference-best time of 46.35 seconds while competing on their home track.
Jefferson also tallied a pair of victories in the 100 and 400-meter hurdles and hit the league mark in both events. She delivered a time of 15.26 seconds in the 100mh while crossing the line with a mark of 1:04.56.
Junior
Celine Fleurilus produced two victories on Friday and established a pair of league marks. She posted a time of 4:56.53 in the 1500 meters while recording the second-best time in the Conference Carolinas in the 800 meters with a mark of 2:24.20.
In the javelin, senior
Danielle Trimbur collected the event win following a toss of 39.12 meters and continues to hold the top spot in the conference. Junior
Katlyn Parrish qualified in the javelin with a distance of 33.77 meters to place second overall while freshman
MacKenna Gallon finished third with a toss of 33.24 meters.
Parrish continued her impressive day with an individual title in the shot put before improving her qualifying mark in two additional events. She posted a first-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 12.60 meters, which sits atop the Conference Carolinas. In the discus, Parrish placed second overall and improved her mark with a distance of 39.35 meters. She also increased her mark in the hammer throw following a toss of 42.54 meters.
Junior
Karla Hormazabal made her outdoor season debut and claimed first place in the triple jump after reaching 11.82 meters, which hit the league standard and ranks fourth all-time at Mount Olive. She also produced a second-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.36 meters to eclipse the conference qualifying mark.
Sophomore
Keza Green also reached the league mark in the triple jump following a leap of 11.13 meters, which ranks ninth all-time at UMO.
Senior
Natalyah Wilson set a pair of league standards on Friday and two runner-up finishes. She placed second in the 400 meters with a league-best time of 57.39 seconds and followed up by finishing second in the high jump after clearing 1.45 meters. Wilson also registered a sixth-place finish in the 200m meters after crossing the line in 25.66 seconds.
Freshman
Elin Rydqvist finished second overall in the hammer throw and improved her conference mark following a toss of 50.21 meters.
Fellow freshman
Destiny Faison registered a third-place finish in the discus and improved her league standard with a distance of 38.97 meters, while also placing seventh in the shot put with a toss of 10.76 meters.
Senior
Vinesha Briggs reached the conference qualifying mark in a pair of events. She finished third overall in the 400 meters with a time of 57.58 seconds and placed fifth in the 200 meters after recording a time of 25.59 seconds.
Roberts delivered a third-place finish in the 200 meters after crossing the line with a time of 25.31 to hit the Conference Carolinas standard. She also hit the qualifying mark in the 100 meters with a time of 12.18 seconds.
Nicholson reached the league qualifying mark in the 100 meters with a time of 12.12 seconds to finish fourth and posted the seventh-best time in program history.
Additionally, in the 400-meter hurdles, junior
Kiwanna Pemberton placed second overall with a time of 1:10.44 while freshman
Brianna Davis finished fourth with a time of 1:15.14.
Mount Olive returns to action next weekend on March 29-30 at the Hornet Open hosted by Lynchburg in Virginia.
