WILMINGTON, N.C. (Mar. 1) – Junior
Adrienne Crawford began the 2024 outdoor campaign with an NCAA Provisional Standard in the hammer, as the University of Mount Olive women's track & field program competed at Day 1 of the UNCW Seahawk Invitational on Friday.
Following a runner-up finish at the Indoor Conference Carolinas Championship, the Trojans had eight individuals reach a league qualifying standard in the opening event of the outdoor season.
In the hammer throw, Crawford registered a first-place finish after a personal record of 53.38 meters on her second attempt, which is the third-best mark in program history. Sophomore
Kenisha Barnes placed second overall with a personal best mark of 51.86 meters to reach the conference mark. In comparison, freshman Elin Rydvist also reached the standard with a toss of 48.60 meters to finish third, which ranks fifth all-time at UMO. Juniors
Kaitlin Kenan and Kayln Parrish also hit the league qualifying standard with distances of 43.04 and 40.34 meters, respectively.
Junior
Celine Fleurilus set a conference standard and placed second overall in the 1500 meters after crossing the line with a personal-best time of 4:56.41.
In the javelin, senior
Danielle Trimbur recorded a second-place finish with a toss of 39.57 meters to reach the qualifying mark. Freshman
MacKenna Gallon also hit the standard in her debut with a mark of 34.06 meters to place fifth overall.
The Trojans continue to compete at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational tomorrow, Saturday, March 2, starting at 10 a.m.
