WINSTON-SALEM (Feb. 18) – Junior
Adrienne Crawford finished runner-up in the weight throw on Sunday, as the University of Mount Olive women's track & field team currently sits second overall following Day 1 of the Indoor Conference Carolinas Championships.
Mount Olive totaled 35 points in the team standings at the conference championships with five events scored. UMO scored in four of the five events, with most of its points coming in the weight throw. Converse holds the top position with 74 points in the standings, while UNC Pembroke rounds out the top three with 25 points.
In the weight throw, the Trojans featured six individuals among the top-eight scorers in the event. Crawford finished second overall following a toss of 15.71 meters (51-6.50 feet) on her fifth attempt to earn Second-Team All-Conference honors. Junior
Katlyn Parrish placed fourth with a personal-best distance of 15.16 meters (49-9.00 feet), while fellow junior
Kaitlin Kenan set a personal record of 14.35 meters (47-1.00 feet) to finish fifth in the standings. Sophomore
Ashley Lindsey registered a sixth-place finish with a toss of 14.29 meters (46-10.75 feet), which was a personal record. Freshman
Elin Rydqvist placed seventh with a distance of 14.23 meters (46-8.25 feet), while sophomore
Kenisha Barnes finished eighth with a mark of 14.13 meters (46-4.25 meters).
Junior
Jamesha Howell recorded a sixth-place finish in the long jump following a distance of 5.24 meters (17-2.25 feet). Fellow junior
Karla Hormazabal placed seventh overall with a mark of 5.23 meters (17-2.00 feet) in the event.
In the high jump, senior
Natalyah Wilson finished fifth overall and matched a career-best clearance of 1.58 meters (5-2.25 feet) at the conference meet. Hormzazbal scored in the event with a seventh-place finish after setting a mark of 1.45 meters (4-9.00 feet).

Celine Fleurilus finished seventh overall with a time of 13:37.03 on Sunday.
In the 60-meter hurdles, sophomore
Channie Jefferson placed third after crossing the line with a time of 9.06 seconds in the preliminaries. Junior
Kiwanna Pemberton finished fifth overall with a time of 9.33 seconds in the event. Both athletes qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles, which will take place on Feb. 19, at noon.
Mount Olive featured the top three fastest times in the 400 meters to qualify a trio for the finals. Jefferson claimed the top spot with a time of 58.16 seconds, while senior
Vinesha Briggs registered a second-place finish with a time of 58.65 seconds. Wilson rounded out the group in third place after crossing the line in 59.05 seconds. The final of the 400 meters is scheduled for 12:20 p.m. on Monday in Winston-Salem.
In the 60-meter dash, sophomore
Chianel Asoburuenwu posted a time of 7.60 seconds to clinch the top spot in the preliminaries. Freshman
Heavan Roberts booked her trip to the finals with a personal-best time of 7.73 seconds to finish sixth, while junior
Lasira Nicholson placed eighth after crossing the line in a personal record time of 7.81 seconds. The trio of athletes qualified for the finals of the 60-meter dash, which will take place on Feb. 19, at 12:40 p.m.
The Trojans will feature four athletes in the finals of the 200 meters, which is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Roberts placed third with a time of 25.60 seconds at the league meet, while Asoburuenwu finished fifth with a mark of 25.79 seconds. Wilson continued her stellar day with a qualification in the event after posting a time of 25.83 seconds and freshman
Kiara Campbell rounded out the group with a seventh-place finish behind a time of 25.98 seconds.
Mount Olive returns to action at the Conference Carolinas Championships tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 19, with events starting at 10:30 a.m.
