BOONE, N.C. (Dec. 7) – The University of Mount Olive women's track & field program posted a pair of event wins and nine Conference Carolinas qualifying marks while competing at the John Weaver Invitational hosted by App State.
Junior
Kenisha Barnes delivered a career-best mark of 16.75 meters in the weight throw on Friday to earn a first-place finish while hitting the third-longest distance in program history.
Additionally, in the weight throw, sophomore
Elin Rydqvist also hit a career-best toss in the event of 15.38 meters to place second overall. Her performance on Friday ranks ninth all-time at Mount Olive. Fellow sophomore
Peyton Bucher registered a fifth-place finish and reached the qualifying standard with a distance of 13.68 meters. Senior
Rolanda Desir-Moreau established a conference mark with a toss of 13.31 meters to place sixth. In comparison, junior
Ashley Lindsey finished seventh with a distance of 13.22 meters to hit the league standard. Senior
Kaitlin Kenan posted an eighth-place finish following a mark of 13.09 meters.
Freshman
Jasmine Colwell earned an event victory in the shot put after a toss of 12.43 meters in her first collegiate meet with the Trojans. Her conference qualifying standard ranked seventh all-time at Mount Olive.
Additionally, in the shot put, junior
Cynthia Thomas registered a fifth-place finish with a league mark of 11.44 meters. Lindsey qualified and finished seventh overall in the event with a mark of 10.97 meters. Kenan also reached the conference standard with a distance of 10.95 meters to place eighth.
Mount Olive returns to action tomorrow, Sunday, Dec. 8, at the JDL Early Bird Invite hosted in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
