MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. (Sept. 6) – In the first South Atlantic Conference (SAC) match of the year, Mount Olive recorded a 14-0 win over Lincoln Memorial on Wednesday afternoon and set a new program record of 14 goals in a match.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive field hockey team improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in league play. Meanwhile, LMU drops to 0-3 this season and 0-1 in conference action.

Avery Congleton scored her first goal of the season at the 15:20 mark, 4-0. While being man-down, Bos hit another key pass to find Schuurman to score her second goal of the match at the 16:18 mark, 5-0. Nearing the end of the first half, senior
Jess Aylward scored her first goal of the contest off a rebound at the 26:08 mark, 6-0. Closing the second quarter, Aylward and senior
McKenzie Conroy found themselves in a 2-on-1 situation. At the 29:47 mark, a great pass by Aylward found Conroy and she was able to score her first goal of the season, 7-0.
At the start of the third quarter, Mount Olive was rewarded a penalty corner. With a hard pass from junior

Maud van Duin slammed the ball in the cage, 8-0. At the 41:26 mark, freshman
Femke van Marle dribbled the ball near the baseline, seeing her teammate, Migounoff score her second goal of the year, 9-0. Closing the third quarter, junior

Natasha Elder to extend the advantage to 10-0. In the last frame of the match, the Trojans were still on the attack. Receiving the rebound off the goalie, sophomore
Candice Wainschel shot through the legs of the goalie at the 48:38 mark, 11-0. At the 52:22 mark, a pass by junior
Zoe Nunez-Bauer led Migounoff to her second goal of the game, breaking the program record for most goals in a match, 12-0. With a one-on-one situation for Mount Olive, Bos put one past the keeper in the closing minutes. With 28 seconds left of the match, the Trojans were still hungry for one more goal. With a shot toward the cage by Congleton, Bos tipped the ball over the end line, 14-0.

Mount Olive led the game with a 41-3 shot advantage and an 8-2 edge on penalty corners.
UMO travels to Hartsville, S.C. to face Coker in conference play this Friday, Sept. 8 at 3:00 p.m.
