MOUNT OLIVE (Sept. 21) – In a South Atlantic Conference (SAC) matchup, UMO came out on top over the Saints in a 2-1 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive field hockey team improves to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in league play. The Trojans have won 12 consecutive matches at home. Meanwhile, the Saints fall to 3-2 overall and in conference play.
Limestone was first to score in the match at the 10:55 mark in the first quarter, 1-0. In the second quarter of the match, the Trojans found themselves in a scoring opportunity as they were given a penalty corner. At the 18:19 mark, sophomore

Jinte Steenbeeke at the top of the circle to rip a shot into the cage, 1-1. The remainder of the quarter went back and forth between LU and UMO as both teams took a total of six shots.
In the second half of the match, possession between the Trojans and the Saints was fifty-fifty. Mount Olive held a 2-1 advantage over Limestone in shots and in penalty corners in the third quarter. Mount Olive out-shot Limestone 14-10 and held a 12-5 advantage in penalty corners.
