VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Feb. 10) – In a preview of the national championship site, the University of Mount Olive women's track & field team recorded several all-time marks in program history at the Pre-National Meet on Friday.
In the 60-meter dash, senior
Jaylin Reeves and freshman
Chianel Asoburuenwu each set personal records while competing in the event. Reeves improved her league-qualifying standard after crossing the line in 7.67 seconds, which ties for the second-fastest time in the conference this season. She also moved to third all-time in UMO history in the 60 meters. Asoburuenwu registered a personal best with a time of 7.74 to improve her conference mark and move up to fifth all-time at Mount Olive in the event.
Freshman
Channie Jefferson enhanced her league standard in the 60-meter hurdles after delivering a time of 9.14, which was a personal record in her career. She leaps to third in the conference and fourth all-time at UMO in the event.
In the shot put, freshman
Cynthia Thomas hit a conference qualifying mark and set a personal best with a distance of 10.87 meters (35-8.0 feet) on her first attempt.
Sophomore
Jamesha Howell improved her league mark in the long jump with a personal record of 5.19 meters (17.05 feet) and jumped to eighth all-time at Mount Olive in the event.
The Trojans return to the Pre-National Meet tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 11, with events resuming at 9 a.m. in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
