MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. (Oct. 14) – On Saturday afternoon, No. 5 UMO defeated the Crusaders in a 1-0 contest in South Atlantic Conference (SAC) play. The Trojans swept Belmont Abbey this season, after winning the first matchup in September.
With the win, the University of Mount Olive field hockey team improves to 12-1 overall with an 11-0 record in the SAC. This marks 24 straight conference wins for the Trojans. Meanwhile, BAC falls to 4-8 overall and 4-6 in conference play.

Avery Congleton in the circle. Shooting toward the near post, Congleton scored at the 16:15 mark of the match, 1-0. At the end of the first half, Mount Olive saw one more shot but could not convert.
During the second half of the match, both teams fought to earn another goal, but neither side saw a shot in the third quarter. In the last frame of the match, the Crusader offense tested the Trojan defense but could not find a goal. Mount Olive shutout the Crusaders and won 1-0.

Alanna Barrett earned three saves on three shots on goal in 60 minutes of play.
UMO out-shot BAC 9-6 and held a 7-2 edge in penalty corners.
