UMO Track And Field Has Good Showing At Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. – The No. 26th University of Mount Olive track & field men's team and No. 16th Women's team had a successful showing at the Duke Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Tai Smith set an NCAA provisional qualifier and several Conference Carolinas standards were set.

WOMEN'S NOTABLES
  • On the women's side, Malak Kafi took seventh in the 100m hurdles having the second highest finish of any Trojan on the day.
  • Taylor Moncrief also had a top-10 finish taking fifth in the high jump with her height of 1.55m.
  • Rounding out the top performances was the 4x100m relay team of Kristen Clarke, Sydney McCoy, Jacqueline Thring, Malak Kafi as the team was the top place DII team in the field.

MEN'S NOTABLES

  • On the men's side, Tai Smith picked up an NCAA Provisional qualifier in the 5000m 14:08.84 finishing 6th in the event.
  • Arne Leppelsack set the top mark on the season in the 400m with his time of 47.97.
  • Eian Hines placed inside the top-10 in the long jump as his distance of 7.08m was also good enough for a Conference Carolinas Championship qualifying mark.
  • Mount Olive had 19 Conference Carolinas Championship qualifying marks set at the Duke Invitational.
