University of Mount Olive men's and women's tennis teams fell to Pfeiffer University 5-4, 9-0 respectively Tuesday afternoon at the Walker Tennis Center in Mount Olive, N.C.
On the men's side, Mount Olive (11-5 Overall, 8-1 Conference Carolinas) fell behind to Pfeiffer (10-61, 7-0-1) after the first two doubles matches. Martin Moser and Yannic Stark took #3 doubles 8-5 to put the Trojans on the board. Pfeiffer, however, took the first three singles matches. Martim Sousa forced a third set after recovering from a 6-4 first set loss to take the next two sets 7-5, 6-0 and won #4 singles.
Moser took #5 singles and Sherzod Akramov won #6 singles, but, it was too late as Pfeiffer won the match.
On the women's side, Mount Olive (9-6 Overall, 8-2 Conference Carolinas) was unable to recover from Pfeiffer (10-5-1, 6-2-1) winning #1, #2, and #3 doubles. The Falcons went on to win all the singles matches in route to taking the match 9-0.
Mount Olive will host Limestone College April 22 at 2 p.m. in the Trojans final regular season contest.
