Box Score A pair of late goals broke open a close match as Mount Olive fell to Queens 3-0 in non-conference men's soccer Wednesday at Charlotte, N.C. The Trojans were within a goal until the 77th minute.
Trojan goalkeeper Aleksandar Drobac recorded seven saves as Mount Olive (0-3-0) kept Queens scoreless until the 25th minute. Queens (2-1-0) broke the deadlock on Felipe Netto's goal at 24:57 and the Royals would lead 1-0 at halftime.
Queens extended its lead to 2-0 at 76:16 on a diving header by Erick Suarez, who added a final goal with 68 seconds left in the match. The Royals outshot the Trojans 19-6.
Wednesday's contest was the first non-conference meeting between the two teams after 18 straight years of Conference Carolinas matches. Queens left for the South Atlantic Conference.
Mount Olive makes its second trip to Charlotte in four days as the Trojans take on Young Harris (Ga.) Saturday in a neutral site contest. Match time is 2 p.m.
